We now come to the final part of our customisation trilogy. If you remember, we spoke about having custom text on the cover of your journal or binder here:
We also spoke about having a printed inscription on the first page of your journal here:
Now we come to the best bit, a place where our customers can let their imaginations run wild, having a custom design on the cover of your journal or binder.
We have our own range of stock designs which we hand tool onto our journals, which we’re very proud of and these can of course have text and things added to them. But, we always get excited when a customer approaches us with their own design.
These designs can be family crests, company logos, club insignia, a representation of a particular hobby or passion, symbols of personal spiritual importance, or even just an image that someone really, really likes.
That sounds good, how do I get one?
All you need to do is send us an email with your design.
We usually like our customers to send us finished designs, but we don’t mind tidying them up a little bit if it’s really needed.
The design will need to be a solid black and white design. This means no shading or greyscale. Working in leather, we can only either stamp the leather down or leave it raised, this essentially becomes the black or white parts of your design. Looking at other designs on our website (or this blog post) will give you an idea of what we can do.
We will tool your design in exactly the same way as we do with our own designs. This means that it will all be done by hand with a variety of small leather tools for fine detailing.
It goes without saying, but of course we will not reproduce your personal artwork for other customers. We will keep it on file just for you should you wish to place further orders.
Surely this is going to cost me a small fortune !?!
Surprisingly no! We know that some companies charge a lot for anything out of the ordinary, but here at Earthworks we don’t live ordinary lives so the extraordinary becomes the everyday for us.
We price according to how long it will take to tool your design. If it’s relatively simple then we will not charge you any extra, it would be the same price as one of our own stock designs.
If it’s a really complex design then we will charge you extra, but it will be as fairly priced as we can manage.
Ok, you’ve convinced me, let’s see some examples.
We always try and remember to take a snapshot of each custom order before we send it off to its new home. Here’s a random selection of some past orders which will hopefully give you a bit of an idea of our range:
